Tasks - previously called Missions - are mini goals which you can complete to earn more gems. You can find the tasks menu by clicking the gift box icon in the bottom left corner.
If you are having trouble with completing your tasks, you can swap a task for a different once by selecting it and then watching an advert to change it, but be warned you can only refresh active tasks once per hour.
